How to Create a Binance API Key

You’ll create a System-generated API key with trading permissions but withdrawals disabled, then lock it to Fomoed’s IPs. Takes about two minutes.

Fomoed connects to Binance with a trade-only API key. The key can place trades but — with withdrawals disabled and IP-locking on — can never move money out of your Binance account. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256.

1. Open API Management. Log in to Binance, then go to Account → API Management (or open the link above). You may need to complete 2FA.
2. Create the API key. Click Create API, choose System generated, give it a label like “Fomoed bot”, and confirm with your 2FA / email code.
3. Copy your key and secret. Binance shows an API Key and a Secret Key. Copy the Secret Key now — it’s shown only once. If you lose it you’ll have to delete the key and make a new one.
   Never share your Secret Key with anyone. Fomoed encrypts it with AES-256 and never displays it back.
4. Set permissions. Click Edit restrictions. Turn ON “Enable Spot & Margin Trading” (and “Enable Futures” only if you’ll run perp bots). Leave “Enable Withdrawals” OFF — a trading bot never needs to move funds out.
   Do NOT enable withdrawals. Fomoed can place trades but must never be able to withdraw your funds.
5. Restrict the key to Fomoed’s IP addresses. Turn on IP access restriction and add Fomoed’s server IPs (below). This means the key only works from our servers — even if it leaked, nobody else could use it. Add all of them.

   If you skip this, the key still works, but IP-locking is the single biggest safety upgrade — do it.
6. Save and paste into Fomoed. Click Save/Confirm. Back in Fomoed, select Binance and paste your API Key, Secret Key. Fomoed validates the key immediately and confirms the trading permission (and IP lock) are correct.
