Free KuCoin Trading Bot: Automate Your KuCoin Trades for Free

Free KuCoin Trading Bot: Automate Your KuCoin Trades for Free
By Fomoed TeamJuly 7, 20269 min read

KuCoin has earned its nickname as "The People's Exchange" by listing well over 700 tokens — one of the deepest altcoin catalogs of any major venue — and by making early-stage assets accessible long before they reach larger exchanges. For traders who live in that long tail of markets, automation is not a luxury but a necessity: opportunities in smaller-cap tokens move fast and rarely wait for you to be at your screen. Fomoed connects directly to your KuCoin account and runs all seven of its automated strategies on KuCoin spot markets — completely free, with no monthly fees, no performance cuts, and no locked features. If you have automated on other venues before, our guides to the free OKX bot and free Binance bot will feel like natural companions to this one.

Connecting KuCoin to fomoed: The Three-Credential Setup

KuCoin's API uses three credentials rather than the usual two, and this is the single most important thing to get right when connecting. Alongside the standard API key and secret, KuCoin requires an API passphrase — a string that you define yourself at the moment you create the key. It functions as a third authentication factor, and Fomoed needs all three values (key, secret, and passphrase) to establish the connection. If you have only ever pasted a key and secret before, this extra field is easy to overlook, so make a note of the passphrase the moment you set it.

To generate your credentials, log into KuCoin and open the API Management page under your account settings. Choose "Create API," give the key a recognizable name, and set the passphrase. When the permission options appear, enable only "General" and "Trade" — these allow Fomoed to read balances and place orders. Under no circumstances should you enable "Transfer" or any withdrawal-related permission. A bot never needs to move funds off the exchange, and leaving that permission disabled means that even in the unlikely event a key were exposed, no one could withdraw your assets. KuCoin also lets you bind the key to specific IP addresses, and adding Fomoed's server IP to that allowlist is a strong extra layer of protection.

One practical caution about the passphrase: KuCoin does not show it again after the key is created. If you lose it, the only remedy is to delete the key and generate a fresh one. Store all three values together in a password manager so a lost passphrase never forces you to rebuild your connection from scratch.

KuCoin API Key Setup
KuCoin requires three credentials: API Key, Secret, and a user-defined API Passphrase. All three must be entered in Fomoed. Enable only "General" and "Trade" permissions, add an IP allowlist, and never enable transfer or withdrawal access. The passphrase is not shown again after creation — save it immediately.

KuCoin Fee Structure

KuCoin uses a standard maker-taker fee model with volume-based tiers, and its base spot rates sit right in line with the rest of the industry — a shade above the tightest venues but comfortably competitive. Makers, who add liquidity by placing resting limit orders, pay slightly less than takers, who remove liquidity with market orders. Rather than quote exact figures that change with promotions and tier revisions, the useful mental model is this: expect a small fraction of a percent per side, and remember that holding KuCoin's native KCS token or reaching higher 30-day volume tiers reduces those rates further.

Because Fomoed trades KuCoin's spot markets, there is no funding rate to account for — funding is a mechanism specific to perpetual futures, and it does not apply to spot positions. That simplicity is one of the quiet advantages of spot automation: your cost per round-trip is simply the entry fee plus the exit fee, with no eight-hour carrying charge draining a position that you hold across intervals. For accumulation-style strategies that ride a token for days or weeks, this makes the cost math refreshingly predictable.

Whatever tier you land in, Fomoed adds nothing on top. We never take a cut of your trades, never charge a spread, and never bill a subscription. Your only trading cost is KuCoin's own standard fee, exactly as if you were clicking the buttons yourself.

Which KuCoin Markets and Strategies Are Supported

Fomoed operates on KuCoin's spot markets, which is precisely where the exchange's enormous token selection shines. All seven strategies are available with no restrictions. The RSI strategy watches the Relative Strength Index to time entries when a token is statistically oversold, which is especially useful across volatile altcoins that swing hard in both directions. Custom strategy mode turns Fomoed into a pure execution engine for your own signals, accepting webhook calls from TradingView or any script that can send an HTTP request. DCA bots automate patient, scheduled accumulation — a natural fit for building a position in a promising small-cap without trying to time the bottom.

Grid trading rounds out the range-bound toolkit by placing laddered buy and sell orders across a price band, harvesting profit from the constant oscillation that characterizes so many KuCoin listings. Copy trading, webhook automation, and the AI Agent strategy complete the set. Every strategy ships with the full suite of risk controls: up to three scale-out take-profit levels, fixed or trailing stop losses, breakeven stops, and Move-After-TP1 automation that ratchets your stop to breakeven once the first target fills. Because these are spot positions, you own the underlying token outright and can withdraw it to self-custody whenever you like.

Before you risk a cent, paper trading mode lets you run any strategy against live KuCoin market data with simulated execution. It is the ideal way to learn how a bot behaves on a thin altcoin pair — where slippage and volatility can differ sharply from blue-chip markets — without putting real capital on the line.

Fomoed vs. KuCoin's Built-In Trading Bots

KuCoin offers its own native bot marketplace, including spot grid bots, DCA bots, and a handful of other prepackaged strategies. They are perfectly serviceable for what they do, but they are single-purpose tools that live entirely inside KuCoin's walls. Fomoed takes a fundamentally different approach by treating strategy and exchange as independent choices.

The first advantage is breadth. KuCoin's built-in bots cover grid and DCA; Fomoed gives you those two plus RSI, custom signals, copy trading, webhooks, and an AI Agent, all managed from one dashboard. If a grid stops working because the market breaks out of its range, you are not stuck dismantling one tool and hunting for another — you simply spin up a different strategy alongside it.

The second advantage is that Fomoed is exchange-agnostic. Your KuCoin bots sit next to bots you run on any other supported venue, in a single unified interface. Run a DCA bot accumulating an altcoin on KuCoin while an RSI bot works a major pair elsewhere, and monitor both from the same screen. The depth of risk configuration also goes well beyond native tools: scale-out take-profits and Move-After-TP1 give you far finer control over how each trade is closed than a simple grid or DCA product typically allows.

Why Trade-Only Keys Keep You Safe

The security model behind Fomoed is worth understanding, because it is what makes handing bot access to a third-party platform reasonable in the first place. Your API key carries only the permissions you grant it. By enabling trade access and leaving transfer and withdrawal disabled, you create a key that can open and close positions but is physically incapable of moving your money anywhere. Your funds never leave KuCoin. Fomoed places orders on your behalf; it can never send your balance to another address.

Layer an IP allowlist on top and the key becomes useless from anywhere but Fomoed's servers. This is the same discipline institutional desks apply to their own automation, and it costs you nothing but a minute of setup. It is also why we insist on it in every connection guide: a trade-only, IP-bound key is the difference between prudent automation and an unnecessary risk.

Building a Multi-Token Altcoin Portfolio

KuCoin's real edge is its catalog, and automation is what makes that catalog usable. Manually tracking entries and exits across a dozen small-cap tokens is exhausting and error-prone; a fleet of bots does it tirelessly. A common pattern is to assign each promising token its own bot with position sizing scaled to your conviction — a larger DCA allocation for names you want to build slowly, and tighter, stop-protected RSI bots for the more speculative plays. Because every bot reports into the same Fomoed dashboard, you get a portfolio-level view of what is working and what is not, without logging into KuCoin's interface at all.

This approach also enforces the discipline that altcoin trading punishes traders for lacking. Thin tokens can rip 30% and give it all back in an afternoon; a pre-set take-profit ladder captures gains on the way up instead of watching them evaporate, while a stop loss caps the damage when a thesis is simply wrong. Letting the bot execute those rules removes the emotional temptation to hold a losing position "just a little longer." On a venue built for the long tail of the market, that mechanical consistency is often the difference between a portfolio that compounds and one that bleeds.

Why 24/7 Automation Matters on KuCoin

Crypto never closes, and altcoin markets in particular tend to make their biggest moves at inconvenient hours. A listing pump, a sudden liquidity flush, or an oversold bounce can happen while you are asleep or at work. A bot running on Fomoed's servers is always awake — it evaluates its signal, opens and manages the position, moves the stop to breakeven after the first target fills, and closes the trade, all without you touching a screen. That around-the-clock coverage is one of the strongest arguments for automating KuCoin specifically, where the opportunities are numerous but fleeting.

Getting Started with KuCoin on Fomoed

Setup takes only a few minutes. Create a KuCoin API key with General and Trade permissions, set and save your passphrase, and add an IP allowlist. In Fomoed's bot creation wizard, select KuCoin as your exchange and enter all three credentials. Pick your strategy, choose your trading pair, set your position size, define your take-profit and stop-loss levels, and decide between paper and live mode.

Beginning in paper mode is the smart move, particularly on KuCoin where you may be trading less liquid tokens for the first time. Paper trading uses real market data with simulated fills, so you see an honest picture of a strategy's behavior without financial risk. Watch the results for a couple of weeks — win rate, average profit per trade, and worst drawdown — before switching to live capital.

Every part of Fomoed is free forever. There are no premium tiers, no paywalled features, and no commission on your gains. Whether you run a single cautious DCA bot or a fleet of grid strategies across dozens of KuCoin altcoins, the entire platform is yours at no cost. Your only expense is KuCoin's own standard trading fee.
